SkyView - Augmented Reality For The Sky

Have you played with SkyView Free yet? It is a super cool augmented reality app that allows users to point their iOS device in any direction and "see" what is in space.

Using SkyView Free you can look at space & "see" what's in the sky. Trajectories for each object can be turned on or off. Tapping on a space object brings up information about it.

The camera can also be turned on so you can look at your surroundings and see space objects like the Sun, Moon and constellations.
See the fish in the sky? That's the constellation Pisces. The stars are connected with blue lines.
Constellation Art and lines can be turned on or off using Settings > Display > Sky Objects.

You can see the Moon is new, it looks like a big black dot. The Sun also lines up perfectly, and you can see it's trajectory line. My beagle is also in this one if you look really closely!

Here's a diagram of some of the main features in the Menu of SkyView Free.

How will you use SkyView Free with your students? I can see students using the camera tool or a screen shot & annotating pictures wit Skitch, reading descriptions about objects in the sky and recording their learning, and so much more.
