Create With 3D Shapes

We've been exploring 3D shapes in math. One of our favorite tools to use is Think 3D Free.

This app has 11 3D shapes to create and explore. When we are just free exploring students can use any of these shapes, but the most commonly chosen are cube, triangular prism & hexagonal prism. I love that users can choose the shape they want to use, the color (random or select a specific one), and rotate the 3D object they are building.

Look at how creative you can be!

I love the planning and forethought that students have to use when creating like this. They sit working and you can just watch the wheels turn in their head as they manipulate their creations, add to them and delete blocks. It's amazing!

Besides creating, try some app smashing to create cool projects with 3D shapes.

Use Think 3D Free & Skitch to annotate objects.

Then you can add more information using Tellagami! Wouldn't it be cool to have students make several of these, then put them together in iMovie for a class project? We'll be working on that in math stations after spring break!

Here's a simple task card for the App Smashing idea above.
