ChatterPix Kids - An iMovie Mash-Up
In one of the amazing sessions I went to at TCEA, I learned about the app ChatterPix Kids from Amanda Peterson, who was presenting a session on using iMovie with other movie making apps. It was something I hadn't thought of before and loved the idea! As soon as I got back to school I added the app to our iPads, then we did a project for the 100th day of school. I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out and it has been a huge hit with parents, teachers and students!
A few details about App Smashing ChatterPix Kids with iMovie ...
* This was a class project, but each student used Doodle Buddy & ChatterPix Kids independently. We used all the iPads in our class to do the drawings, then since they have the same iTunes account, we used Photo Stream to sync all the pictures to one iPad.
* We chose 1 iPad to make all the ChatterPix Kids videos on. Videos can be shared from one iPad to another through several means, but for this project the quickest way was just to use one iPad and save the hassle of transferring all the videos. We took our time & different students used the iPad in turns all day to make their video and export it to the camera roll.
* Then we used Popplet Lite to create the beginning & ending slides as well as each child's name which would transition the videos.
* My students love "scrubbing" to make each slide just the right length & moving them around. It is so cool to see how they learn this so easily.
* I trained a student to be our "ChatterPix Expert" so she could help other students with their videos on this project & in the future. We are currently using ChatterPix in the writing station - they write a poem, then record it. They LOVE it!
I can't wait to see what else they will want to create with ChatterPix Kids! What will you and your students create?
