Place Value Pictures & Haiku Deck

Earlier this week one of my good friends shared a book with me, and I'm so glad she did! Zero by Kathryn Otoshi. It is perfect for talking about place value, feelings, and self confidence. I promptly read it to my math classes.

My math classes have been working really hard on understanding place value as a groups of tens, with some ones. We've been using several different manipulatives to build numbers, and have been using our iPads to capture our work.

Yesterday we put together this Haiku Deck presentation to help us remember what we've been doing and share it on our class blog.
