I got an email this morning from DK Publishing about the annual Star Wars Reads Day, and knew right away I wanted to do this for our campus! DK publishes many those great informational texts our students love, especially the Star Wars & Lego books. I have so many students that LOVE to read this kind of text and know it will get them very excited!
Star Wars Reads Day II is on October 5th, however if you want to host it at your school or library it will be held Friday, October 4th. Two months before the event a resource kit will be available for you to download on the Star Wars Reads site.
I was so excited that I put together this Symbaloo for the event ...
I've shared Star Wars apps for young students, information on how to sign up, books for younger and older elementary students, DK Twitter & #StarWarsReads, as well as some resources for Tom Angleberger's Oragami Yoda books.
I plan to have time where students can
* read Star Wars Books (from home and school)
* play Star Wars games on the computers and iPads
* possibly eat / make a Star Wars themed snack
* share favorite books / characters
* write about books / reccomend them to others
* Star Wars crafts like Yoda ears or Light Sabers
As Yoda might say "Love it, your students will."
