Talk! Don't Touch!

One of the main iPad expectations in our classroom is that if you are helping someone, you're not going to touch their screen. You can point, talk, and ask, but not touch. Everyone wants to discover and learn, so we don't want to do it for them! We try to use this on anything we are helping others with. Don't do it for them, guide them, but let them do it.

Today, I broke our rule! As I was helping a student figure out something I touched her screen. She swiftly put me in my place! She grabbed my finger, held it away from the screen, and held it there the entire time we solved her problem. She didn't even say anything. Just grabbed my finger, held it out, and kept on going herself as we talked! It was pretty funny, and I obviously needed the reminder.

I used Canva to make this fun graphic. Share it with your students, or use it as a reminder for yourself.

Do you have a similar rule in your learning environment?
