Surveys, Graphs & Analyzing Data with Haiku Deck

We've been having a lot of fun with taking surveys and analyzing the results. We are really working to make comparison statements about the data that we collect.

As a culmination to our unit in math, I had my students work in pairs to -
 * formulate a survey question (with a yes or no answer)
 * record the results
 * analyze the data and write a comparison statement
 * translate the data into a bar graph using Haiku Deck
 * add their comparison statement to a new slide in Haiku Deck
 * share their results with the class

They worked really hard! I am so proud of their products and how they collaborated together to get their work done! This is a simple activity, but it did take my first graders 2 class meetings for everyone to get done. They worked in groups and I helped to facilitate the surveys and helped them with the technology. I had been showing them Haiku Deck graphs all throughout our unit, and they had helped me create them before - so I wasn't just throwing them something out of the blue!

Here is some of their great work ...

  2. Wow! Great use of Haiku Deck -- thank you for sharing your inspiration! And we love that the charts and graphs are so easy to use even first graders can create them. We've started adding charts and graphs to our web version -- would love to have you and readers try them out at http://www.haikudeck.com!
