Our first iPad project this year with my new students has been using Aurasma to augment our artistic responses to Amy Krouse Rosenthal's & Tom Lichtenheld's The OK Book. Watch the book trailer here.
Each student drew something that they are OK at right now. Then they drew another picture of something they want to be really excellent at by the time they finish 1st grade. We created auras with a photo of them and their second picture as the overlays and their drawings as the trigger picture.
If you're interested in using Aurasma in your classroom check out this awesome guide by Karen Ogden at InTech InSights.
If you are wanting to make a bulletin board using Aurasma I made a small instruction page to include so that other classes and parents will know to use Aurasma to get the full effect. Grab a copy here or by clicking the picture below.
I'm very excited to continue using augmented reality in our classroom this year! Have you tried it yet?
What a great idea! I'm just starting out with Aurasma, and your instruction page will be very helpful. Does the user have to subscribe to your channel in order to view the overlays?
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeanne!
DeleteIf you create an aura that is public anyone with the app can view it, whether you add it to your channel or not. However, if you create a private aura, the user will need to subscribe to your channel or be signed in to your account. For my first graders I have a class account, but I made the auras for our bulletin board public so anyone with the app walking by in our building can use Aurasma to view it.
Great question! I'll share more about it tomorrow with some screen shots. :)
